Components of Allergy Weed Panel Test

There are several keys that the weed allergy test measures. Some of these are-

• Ragweed 

• Goosefoot

• Common Pigweed

• Cocklebur

• Mugwort & Rapeseed 

Besides, the test also measures -

• IgE Antibodies: The test measures the amounts of specific IgE antibodies that your immune system produces in reaction to different weed pollens. An allergic reaction to the relevant weed pollen is indicated by elevated levels of these antibodies.

• Total levels of IgE: Total IgE levels are occasionally tested to give a more comprehensive picture of your entire allergic response, though they are not usually included in every panel.

There are two ways the doctor would interpret the test result-

• Positive Findings: Increased IgE antibodies point to a possible allergic illness by indicating an allergy to the pollen under examination.

• Negative Results: These rule out an allergy to the pollens that were tested, though there may be an exception if the allergy was brought on by a pollen that was not on the panel.

Preparation and Perquisites

​There is no fasting or special preparation required to undergo the test. The clinician would collect the blood sample and analyze it for better results. If you have been taking any medication, you need to mention it to the doctor.
